CRF Frozen Foods Recall
CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington has issued a voluntary recall of frozen organic and traditional fruits and vegetables in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It is believed that some of these products may have been distributed in Montana.
The Cascade City-County Health Department (CCHD) Environmental Health Sanitarians have contacted retail stores in Cascade County that may have received these products to ensure that all potentially affected goods have been pulled from shelves. Usually stores are already aware of a recall and have taken appropriate steps, however CCHD Sanitarians follow up as an additional safety measure.

This recall has been implemented because these products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
