Flip-Flop Giveaway this Weekend
Tobacco use kills and reACT teens aim to demonstrate the measure of life that it takes. The City-County Health Department’s Tobacco Use Prevention and reACT* programs invite everyone to join in the fight against Big Tobacco with the “Flip-Flop Giveaway”. This two day event will be held this Saturday from 10am-7pm and Sunday from 11am-6pm at the Holiday Village Mall. The CCHD will have 1200 free pairs of reACT flip-flops to give away. The 1200 flip-flops represent the number of people that die every day in the United States from a tobacco related disease.
Teens will have the opportunity to become reACT-ors at the event. “Our goal is to build awareness not only for our Tobacco Youth Coalition, reACT, but also for the big tobacco companies’ marketing strategies that target our youth and promote addiction,” says Teddy Nault, Tobacco Prevention Specialist for CCHD.
The “Flip-Flop Giveaway” will be located near the Food Court in the Holiday Village Mall. Most mall entrances will have directional signs towards the location. This is a free family event that everyone can enjoy during back to school shopping.
*reACT is Montana’s teen-led movement against Big Tobacco. The group recognizes the power of young people to effectively take on one of the leading preventable causes of death: commercial tobacco use.
