FREE Child Safety Seat Checkup Event April 8th

The Cascade County Buckle Up Montana Coalition is hosting a free child safety seat checkup event from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 8th at the Cascade City-County Health Department.  Everyone who transports children is encouraged to stop by the event, located at 115 4th Street South, where trained child passenger safety technicians will inspect car seats for correct model, size, and installation.

According to the Montana Department of Transportation, four out of five child safety seats are not correctly installed, which can result in children suffering severe or fatal injuries during a crash. Properly installing and using car seats is the most critical component to protecting children on Montana’s roadways.

Residents are invited to bring the vehicle, car seat, and child who uses it, to the safety seat checkup event. Technicians will check for secure installation, proper harness adjustment, manufacturer’s size and weight limits, and manufacturer recall information.

Technicians will also answer questions and provide information about choosing the appropriate car seat as the child grows.

For those who are unable to attend the event, appointments can be made with Mary Kay Burns 406-454-6750 for a full inspection.

The Child Passenger Safety Program is supported by the Montana Department of Transportation. Help ensure Montana’s little ones are safe while traveling and visit for child passenger safety guidelines.

The event is sponsored by the Cascade County Buckle Up Montana Coalition. The Montana Child Passenger Safety Program and other enforcement and education campaigns are another strategy to reach Vision Zero—zero deaths and zero serious injuries on Montana roadways.
