Board of Health Elects New Member
Great Falls, MT– During their monthly meeting on Wednesday January 4th, the Cascade City-County Board of Health announced the appointment of new county member Terry Barber. Barber joins the board with more than 40 years of experience as a Pharmacist in the Great Falls community. He is a Past President Board Member of the Montana Pharmacy Association and is a Past President Life Member of the Uptown Optimist Club.
“The role of the Board of Health is to set policy and prevention measures to ensure the health of our community. Says Jane Weber, Cascade County Commissioner. “Terry’s knowledge and skills will bring a new component to the Board, and we are pleased to have him join us,” she continues.
Barber fills a seat vacated by Ryan Burke, Corporate Safety Director at Pacific Steele. Burke served a six-year term on the Board of Health as the Cascade County Representative.
The Board of Health elected to retain its current Chair and Vice-Chair. City Commission Bill Bronson will serve a second year as Chair, this will be his fifth year on the Board. Superintendent of Great Falls Public Schools, Tammy Lacey will continue as Vice-Chair. Ms. Lacey is in her fourth year as the Superintendent of Schools for Great Falls Public Schools (GFPS). Ms. Lacey has served on the Board of Health concurrent with her superintendent tenure. The GFPS Superintendent of Schools is a permanent appointed member of the Board of Health.
The Board of Health is the governing body for the operations of the City-County Health Department. Members are either appointed or permanent representation outlined by Montana Code Annotated. Other Board of Health members include Jane Weber, Cascade County Commissioner; Matt Martin, DDS 4th District Dental Association; Dr. Ray Geyer, Cascade County Medical Society; and Peter Gray, City of Great Falls.
The Cascade City-County Board of Health meets on the first Wednesday of every month at the City-County Health Department and is open to the public.
