Board of Health Elects New Member and Appoints New Chair and Vice-Chair
Great Falls,MT– During their monthly meeting on Wednesday January 6th, the Cascade City-County Board of Health announced the appointment of new City member Peter Gray. Gray is Executive Director, Senior Care for Benefis Health System. He joins the board with more than 25 years of experience working in healthcare. Board members publicly stated their excitement with the addition of Mr. Gray, and look forward to their continued partnership with Benefis Health System.
Gray fills the seat vacated by Sue Warren, Director of Nursing for Senior Services at Benefis Health System. Warren served a six-year term on the Board of Health as the City Representative.
The Board of Health also appointed a new Chair and Vice-Chair. Current Vice-Chair Bill Bronson replaces outgoing Chair, Sue Warren. Bill is a City Commissioner and local attorney who has been a member of the Board of Health for four years. Much of Bill’s law practice involves medical issues. “I enjoy bringing my legal background into the work of the Board. We have a great team at City-County Health, and this community is healthier as a result” says Bronson.
Superintendent of Great Falls Public Schools, Tammy Lacey will take over as Vice-Chair. Ms. Lacey is in her third year as the Superintendent of Schools for Great Falls Public Schools (GFPS). She is a native of Great Falls and has been an educator for 31 years with 23 of those being in GFPS in several different capacities. Ms. Lacey has served on the Board of Health concurrent with her superintendent tenure as the GFPS Superintendent of Schools is an appointed member of the Board of Health.
By law, the Cascade-City County Board of Health is required to have include the following members:
- A County Commissioner: Jane Weber
- A Doctor: Dr. Ray Geyer
- A Dentist: Matt Martin, DDS
- Superintendent of Schools: Tammy Lacey
- Citizen appointed by the City: Peter Gray
- Citizen appointed by the County: Ryan Burke
- A City Commissioner: Bill Bronson
- The Health Officer: Tanya Houston
The Cascade City-County Board of Health meets on the first Wednesday of every month at the City-County Health Department and is open to the public.
