The flu is a highly contagious and serious disease that can be spread by coughing, sneezing or nasal secretions. When you get vaccinated you help protect yourself and others from contracting the flu virus.

Flu vaccinations are recommended for everyone ages 6 months and older. It is especially important for:

-The elderly

-Pregnant women*

-Those with chronic health conditions

-Healthcare workers

-Close contacts of children under 6 months

*If you are pregnant, a doctor’s note is required to be vaccinated at one of CCHD’s clinics.

Got a flu shot last year? We want to see you again this year! Strains of the flu are continuously changing. This year’s vaccine is the best way to protect against the flu for this season.

Worried the vaccination will make you sick? Have no fear! The flu shot contains a dead virus. You may experience some mild side effects but you will not get the flu from the shot. If in the past you got the flu after receiving the vaccine, you were mostly likely exposed to the virus before being vaccinated. Immunity is built within two weeks of getting vaccinated.
