FREE Car Seat Checkup Event at CCHD 3/19/15
Cascade City-County Health Department is holding a FREE Car Seat Checkup event Thursday, March 19th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the CCHD parking lot located at 115 4th St. South.
Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on site inspecting each safety seat at the event to make sure it fits the child properly, is correctly installed, and is in the safest possible location in the vehicle. There will also be a limited number of booster seats available for $7 each, for children age 4 and up, who weigh 40 pounds or more.
Research shows that an estimated 30 percent of children still continue to ride unrestrained, and 80 percent of all car seats are used incorrectly. More than 1,700 children have been saved since 1996 just because they were riding in a properly fitted car seat and in the back seat. According to Safe Kids and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a correctly used safety seat reduces fatality risk by 71 percent and serious injury risk by 67 percent.
