Keep Your Kids Strong the Whole Year Long
The start of the school year can be a very hectic time for families. Remembering school supplies, school clothes, sports physicals, immunizations and all of the other necessities can be overwhelming for parents. With that in mind, Great Falls Clinic, Cascade City-County Health Department and Great Falls Public Schools are working together to try to make it as convenient as possible for parents to mark at least two things off of their list: immunizations and sports physicals.
Wednesday, August 8th parents and/or guardians can bring their children to the MT Expo Park’s Four Season’s Arena between 10am and 4pm for immunizations, sports physicals or both! CCHD will provide vaccinations to anyone 0-18 years of age. Cost varies depending on the vaccine, but all payment types will be accepted, as well as all insurances, so parents should have their cards with them. Great Falls Clinic Family Medicine Providers will be providing sports physicals for only $25, and they will accept cash as payment for their services.
Both immunizations and sports physicals are important for keeping children healthy. “Vaccines can prevent serious illnesses that can cause hardship for a family,” says Trixie Smith, CCHD’s Prevention Services Division Manager. She continues, “Not only is there the worry of a loved one who is ill, there is also the stress of missed work time and the financial impact that this could have on the family. Our knowledgeable Public Health Nurses will be glad to answer questions and provide information regarding immunization schedules and what vaccinations are recommended to keep children healthy.”
To ensure children are fit and healthy for their chosen sport, a sports physical is required by the school before they begin. Even if a child isn’t playing a fall sport, winter and spring sports also require physicals, and this is a great opportunity for parents to get it done. Great Falls Clinic will have Family Medicine Providers onsite to provide the sports physicals and answer general questions that parents may have.
This walk-in clinic is a convenient way for parents to get multiple tasks crossed off their back-to-school checklist and is also a great opportunity for parents to keep their kilds strong the whole year long!
